Play House

Pacific Play House

Established in 2018, Pacific Play House is the supporting wing of Pacific Speech Therapy and Learning Centre.Pacific Play Houseserves as a platform for children to learn and rehearse social skills in a less stressful environment. Improving social skills help to promote better self-esteem, helping the child to make friends and live a happier life.

It’s a significant milestone for Pacific moving towards providing holistic therapy and care for children with special needs. From clinician-centered 1 to 1 therapy sessions, now we would like to scaffold the children better by actively involving the family, as well as the school to be part of the children’s learning journey. We look at children’s development as a whole –Children benefit from not only therapy sessions but also from play and social interactions. As the supporting wing of Pacific Speech Therapy and Learning Centre, Pacific Play House would like to ensure our children being able to apply and generalize all the skills learned during one-to-one therapy sessions, in their real-life daily routine.

Programs available:

  • Social Play Group: provides a fun setting for children to learn play skills, language for 2-way communications, as well as sensory-motor skills.
  1. Toddler Social Playgroup (TSP) specially designed for children age 2 – 5 years old who has limited play skills. For example, they have limited ideas what to do with cars. Instead of pretending to drive the cars, they spin the wheels of the car.

We believe each and every child is unique. For some children, play skills do not develop naturally. Hence, TSP serves as a platform for children to learn and rehearse play skills in a well-planned environment. With adult’s scaffolding and supervision, we expand the child’s essential play skills needed for social interactions at older stages.

  1. Elementary Social Playgroup, ESP specially designed for children age 5 and above who struggle during social play with peers.

Each and every child develops at a different pace. Some of our children develop fantastic play skills with good imaginations. They can pretend to feed the doll and imagine the aeroplane is flying up in the sky. However, they struggle to blend in and play with peers at school. ESP aims to help our children in generalizing their play skills during social interactions with peers, which is an essential skill for building up self-esteem at a later stage.

  • Social Skills Group: helps children with functional speech-language skills develop self-esteem, social skills and making friends in a systematic and evidence-based approach.
  1. SSG Level 1: Talkabout for Chidlren: Developing Self Awareness and Self Esteem is a systematic and hierarchy-based module supporting children with social, emotional or behavioral difficulties. Once children develop basic language and play skills, SSG Level 1 promotes better awareness of self, others and the environment. It builds up self-esteem for 2-way social communications at later stages.
  2. TSSG Level 2: Talkabout for Children: Developing Social Skills is a systematic and hierarchy-based module supporting children with social, emotional or behavioral difficulties. Once children develop self-awareness and self-esteem for social communications, TSSG level 2 works on improving the body language, the way we talk and conversational skills, which are essential skills for our children to be able to make friends in real life settings.
  3. TSSG Level 3: Talkabout for Children: Developing Friendship Skills is a systematic and hierarchy-based module supporting children with social, emotional or behavioral difficulties. Once children develop social skills, TSSG level 3 aims to help our children to generalize the social skills and making friends. Every child deserves a happier school life.
